ISO1042DWVR CAN transceiver
The ISO1042DWVR, a high-performance reinforced isolated CAN transceiver from Texas Instruments, is housed in a compact 16-pin SOIC wide-body surface-mount package, purpose-built to deliver robust, high-speed CAN communication across 5 kVRMS isolation barriers in harsh industrial and automotive environments. Operating from a 3 V to 5.5 V supply voltage on both the isolated and non-isolated sides, this device integrates a digital isolator and a CAN transceiver in a single chip, supporting up to 5 Mbps data transmission rate while fully complying with ISO 11898-2:2016 and CAN FD specifications for high-speed in-vehicle networks.
Its key electrical specifications include a 5 kVRMS reinforced isolation rating with a 60-year minimum lifetime at 1 kVRMS working voltage, a ±58 V bus fault protection that safeguards the CANH and CANL pins against overvoltage transients, a wide -40 V to 40 V common-mode input voltage range for stable data reception in noisy industrial settings, and a low 2.5 V typical loop delay that ensures minimal signal distortion in high-speed CAN FD networks. It also features integrated failsafe functions that force the differential output to a recessive state when the bus is open or shorted, alongside built-in thermal shutdown, undervoltage lockout and current limiting protection mechanisms to prevent device damage under abnormal conditions. Rated for an extended -55°C to 125°C operating temperature range, it is fully AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications and widely deployed in electric vehicle battery management systems, industrial automation networks, motor control interfaces, medical equipment, solar inverters and isolated CAN FD networks that demand high noise immunity, reinforced safety isolation and reliable long-distance communication.
