BQ24045DSQR single-cell Li-ion battery charger
The BQ24045DSQR, an integrated single-cell Li-ion battery charger and power path management IC from Texas Instruments, is housed in a compact 3mm x 3mm 10-pin WSON surface-mount package, purpose-built to deliver efficient, safe charging for portable electronics while enabling simultaneous system operation from the adapter input. Supporting a 4.35V to 6.4V input voltage range that covers standard 5V USB and wall adapter power sources, it integrates a synchronous switching charger with up to 1.5A programmable charge current, a 100mA LDO for system power, and an independent power path that allows the system to be powered directly from the input source even when the battery is deeply discharged or removed.
It also features comprehensive protection functions including input overvoltage protection, battery overvoltage protection, thermal shutdown, timer-based safety timer, and a 7mA battery leakage current when the input is removed, alongside status indicator outputs (CHG and PG) for LED or MCU communication. Rated for a -40°C to 85°C extended industrial operating temperature range, it is fully RoHS compliant and widely deployed in smartphones, tablets, portable medical devices, Bluetooth headsets, handheld gaming consoles and IoT edge nodes that demand fast, safe charging with uninterrupted system operation.
