MPFS250T-FCG1152I PolarFire SoC FPGA
The MPFS250T-FCG1152I from Microchip is a high-performance PolarFire SoC FPGA that seamlessly integrates a coherent multi-core RISC-V processor subsystem with a non-volatile, SEU-immune FPGA fabric on a single chip. It features four 64-bit RV64GC application cores alongside one 64-bit RV64IMAC monitor/boot core, all implemented using a 5-stage, single-issue, in-order pipeline that achieves clock frequencies up to 667 MHz while being inherently immune to the Meltdown and Spectre exploits that affect out-of-order machines. All five cores are coherent with the memory subsystem, enabling a versatile mix of deterministic real-time processing and Linux-capable symmetric multiprocessing within one device, making it an innovative mid-range embedded compute platform for next-generation systems.
Housed in a 1152-pin flip-chip BGA package (35x35 mm), the MPFS250T-FCG1152I is qualified for the industrial temperature range of -40°C to +100°C (TJ), ensuring reliable operation in thermally demanding environments. Its non-volatile, instant-on configuration and defense-grade security features—including secure boot, AES decryption, SHA-3 authentication, and tamper detection—make it particularly well-suited for wired and wireless networking, industrial automation, medical imaging, defense systems, and edge computing applications where power efficiency, security, and deterministic performance are paramount.
Alternative FPGA Models
