LTM8055IY#PBF 36 V 8.5 A buck-boost module
The LTM8055IY#PBF is a complete 36 V, 8.5 A buck-boost μModule® regulator from Analog Devices that integrates the switching controller, power MOSFETs, inductor, compensation network and input/output filter capacitors inside a 121-BGA package, delivering a true"power-supply on a chip"that can source or sink current with equal ease. Operating from 5 V to 36 V input, it produces a user-adjustable output between 1.2 V and 36 V that can be equal to, lower or higher than the input, enabling single-stage regulation in battery, automotive and industrial buses where the supply rail may move above or below the load voltage during cranking, charging or load-dump events.
Peak efficiency reaches 97.5 %, while selectable switching frequency (100 kHz – 800 kHz) and external synchronization (200 kHz – 700 kHz) allow designers to trade losses for EMI performance; an onboard current-sense amplifier provides average input- and output-current monitoring/limiting, and multiple devices can be paralleled for > 20 A loads. Housed in a RoHS-compliant (lead-free) BGA footprint compatible with standard SMT reflow, the module is qualified –40 °C to +125 °C, survives 40 V transients and needs only two resistors to set VOUT, drastically shrinking solution size and design cycle time for high-power battery-operated equipment, solar chargers, telecom decks and distributed industrial supplies.
