ADM4852ARZ-REEL7 RS-485/RS-422 transceiver
TheADM4852ARZ-REEL7 is a 5V, slew-rate limited, half-duplex RS-485/RS-422 transceiver housed in an 8-pin SOIC package. Designed for robust differential data transmission, it supports data rates up to 2.5 Mbps and complies with TIA/EIA-485-A and RS-422 standards. The transceiver integrates one driver and one receiver with a 1/8-unit-load receiver input impedance, allowing up to 256 transceivers to share a single multipoint bus. Key robustness features include true fail-safe receiver inputs (ensuring a logic-high output when inputs are open or shorted), thermal shutdown protection, and current-limited driver outputs to prevent damage from bus contention. It operates from a 4.75V to 5.25V supply and is fully specified over the industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, making it suitable for harsh environments.
Alternative RS-485 transceiver Models
● MAX3485EASA+T (Maxim/Analog Devices): A classic 3.3V/5V-compatible RS-485 transceiver with similar 2.5Mbps speed and 1/4-unit load, widely used in industrial designs.
● SN75LBC184DR (Texas Instruments): A robust 5V RS-485 transceiver featuring enhanced ESD protection (±15kV) and surge tolerance for harsh electrical environments.
● SP3485EN-L/TR (MaxLinear): A low-power 3.3V half-duplex transceiver supporting 10Mbps, suitable for space-constrained and battery-powered applications.
● ISL83485ARZ (Renesas): A 5V industrial-grade half-duplex transceiver with high ESD tolerance and a wide -40°C to +85°C operating range.
