Aluminum Capacitor Prices Surge, Nichicon Announces Across-the-Board Price Hike

On June 17–18, 2026, Japanese aluminum electrolytic capacitor manufacturer Nichicon issued a price increase notification to customers, announcing across-the-board price hikes for its entire aluminum electrolytic capacitor product line. The price adjustment expands the previous increase range of 9%–12% to 10%–15%. Nichicon emphasized that amid persistent geopolitical turmoil in the Middle East, key costs including aluminum foil, chemical raw materials, and electricity have continued to climb. Additionally, order volumes for certain products have exceeded the company's existing production capacity.

Aluminum electrolytic capacitors have become the latest passive component category to face pricing pressure, following MLCCs and tantalum capacitors. According to a TrendForce report, the ramp-up of AI platforms in the second half of 2026 will propel aluminum electrolytic capacitors into an AI-driven upward cycle. In addition to Nichicon's double-digit increase, Taiwanese peers including CapXon, Lelon Electronics, and Teapo are expected to follow suit with their own price hikes. Global leader Nippon Chemi-Con has not announced recent increases, though it raised prices twice last year.
Industry analysts note that after years of market correction, demand for high-end aluminum capacitors from AI servers, new energy vehicles, and industrial automation is accelerating. The tightening supply-demand environment is expected to support pricing improvement across the industry. As a critical supporting component in power supply systems, aluminum electrolytic capacitors' upward pricing trend is projected to continue, and procurement personnel should proactively prepare risk management strategies.
