TXS0108EPWR 8-bit bidirectional voltage-level translator
The TXS0108EPWR is an 8-bit bidirectional voltage-level translator designed to facilitate seamless communication between devices operating at different voltage levels, such as microcontrollers, sensors, and peripherals. It supports automatic direction sensing, eliminating the need for external direction-control signals, and operates across a wide voltage range: 1.2V to 3.6V (A-side) and 1.8V to 5.5V (B-side). This makes it ideal for mixed-voltage systems, including battery-powered IoT devices, wearables, and automotive applications. The chip features a compact 20-pin TSSOP package, ensuring space efficiency while maintaining robust electrical performance with low propagation delay (≤2.5ns) and high noise immunity.
The TXS0108EPWR provides eight independent bidirectional channels, each capable of translating voltage levels without additional components. It supports data rates up to 100 Mbps (for 5V to 3.3V translation) and operates in both transparent and latched modes. The device automatically detects the direction of data flow, switching between input and output modes dynamically. It includes IOFF circuitry to disable outputs during power-down, preventing back-powering of devices. The chip operates over a -40°C to +125°C temperature range, making it suitable for industrial and automotive environments. Its ESD protection exceeds 8 kV (HBM), ensuring reliability in harsh conditions.
