The F28P550SJ9PDTR is a Texas Instruments C2000 real-time microcontroller from the TMS320F28P55x family, built for high power density, high switching frequency power electronics and for designs exploiting GaN and SiC devices. At its core is a 150 MHz 32-bit C28x DSP CPU with FPU32, TMU and VCRC extensions, paired with an independent 150 MHz Control Law Accelerator (CLA) that offloads control loops from the main CPU.
It carries 1088 KB of ECC-protected flash across five banks (four 256 KB plus one 64 KB) with 8 KB OTP and 133 KB of ECC or parity-protected RAM, and uniquely adds a TinyEngine neural-network processing unit delivering 600 to 1200 MOPS for edge AI inference such as arc fault and motor bearing fault detection. Analog capability includes five 3.9 MSPS 12-bit ADCs with up to 39 channels, three PGAs, four CMPSS modules and a 12-bit buffered DAC, while 24 ePWM channels (12 with 150 ps high resolution), three eQEP modules, two CAN FD ports, USB 2.0, FSI up to 200 Mbps and a two-tile CLB complete the control set.
This real-time MCU targets motor drives and appliances, hybrid, electric and powertrain systems, solar inverters and EV charging, digital power and power factor correction, body electronics and lighting, and test and measurement equipment. Typical designs include three-phase inverters and servo drives, onboard chargers and DC-DC converters, totem-pole PFC stages using GaN or SiC switches, uninterruptible power supplies, robotics and industrial automation controllers, and intelligent circuit breakers using the NPU for arc fault detection.
FAQ
Q: What package is PDT? The PDT suffix is a 128-pin thin quad flatpack (TQFP, 14 x 14 mm), supplied on tape and reel for this orderable.
Q: How many ADC channels are available? Up to 39 external channels on the 128-pin package, though smaller packages offer 26, 28 or 35.
