ADL5385ACPZ-R7 Quadrature modulator RF communication modulator
The ADL5385ACPZ-R7 is a high-performance silicon monolithic quadrature modulator designed for use in communication systems from 30 MHz to 2200 MHz. It features excellent phase accuracy and amplitude balance, enabling high-performance intermediate frequency (IF) and direct radio frequency (RF) modulation. This modulator takes signals from two differential baseband inputs and modulates them onto two carriers in quadrature with each other, derived from a single-ended, external local oscillator input signal at twice the frequency of the desired carrier output.
Specifications
The ADL5385ACPZ-R7 operates within a supply voltage range of 4.75 V to 5.5 V and has an operating supply current of 215 mA. It offers a wide output frequency range from 30 MHz to 2200 MHz and achieves 1 dB output compression at 11 dBm at 350 MHz. The noise floor is as low as -159 dBm/Hz at 350 MHz, with sideband suppression of -50 dBc and carrier feedthrough of -46 dBm at 350 MHz. The device is packaged in a 24-lead, Pb-free LFCSP with an exposed paddle, suitable for surface mount applications. It is specified to operate over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
Applications
This modulator is ideal for a variety of applications, including radio-link infrastructure, cable modem termination systems, wireless infrastructure systems, wireless local loop, and WiMAX/broadband wireless access systems. Its wide baseband input bandwidth allows for either baseband drive or drive from a complex IF, making it suitable for both IF and direct-to-RF modulation in digital communication systems.
Alternative Models
●ADL5380ACPZ-R7: A similar quadrature modulator with a slightly different frequency range and performance characteristics, suitable for applications requiring high linearity and low noise.
● ADF4350: A wideband synthesizer with integrated VCO, offering high performance in frequency synthesis applications.
● AD9122: A dual, 16-bit, 1230 MSPS TxDAC+® digital-to-analog converter, ideal for high-speed signal processing and interfacing with modulators like the ADL5385ACPZ-R7.
