ISOW7841FDWER is a reinforced four‑channel digital isolator manufactured by Texas Instruments with an integrated high‑efficiency isolated DC‑DC power converter, delivering 5000 Vrms isolation rating, 100 Mbps maximum data transfer speed and default‑low output configuration for isolated communication circuits. This single‑chip solution combines signal isolation and isolated power supply through on‑chip transformers and silicon‑dioxide insulation barriers, removing the requirement for an external isolated power module, lowering bill‑of‑material cost and saving PCB layout space for industrial‑grade noise‑sensitive systems, and it is packed in a 16‑pin wide SOIC surface‑mount housing suitable for long‑term stable operation between ‑40 °C and 125 °C ambient temperature.
Key Features
● Reinforced isolation barrier with 5000 Vrms withstand voltage, 10 kVpk surge immunity and more than 100‑year projected service life under 1000 Vrms working voltage.
● Four digital channels configured as 3 forward‑direction and 1 reverse‑direction data paths with 100 Mbps high‑speed transmission capability.
● Built‑in DC‑DC converter supports 3 V to 5.5 V wide input range and regulated 3.3 V or 5 V isolated output with maximum 0.65‑W power delivery.
● Comprehensive built‑in protection functions including soft‑start inrush‑current limitation, overload protection, short‑circuit protection and thermal shutdown.
FAQ
Q: Can this chip generate isolated power and isolate signals at the same time? A: Yes, its integrated DC‑DC converter can supply isolated power without extra isolated power components.
Q: What PCB design advice should be followed?
A: Keep adequate creepage and clearance distances across the isolation boundary, separate primary‑side and secondary‑side ground planes strictly and add decoupling capacitors near power pins.
Alternative signal isolation chips
