The FSAM50SM60A is a compact, high-performance Motion SPM® 2 series intelligent power module (IPM) from onsemi, designed for cost-sensitive low-power AC motor drive applications such as air conditioners, home appliances, and small industrial motor systems. Integrating a 600V/50A three-phase IGBT inverter bridge with optimized gate drive ICs and comprehensive protection circuits, it delivers a rated inverter power of 4.0kW for 100–253 VAC input, supporting AC induction, BLDC, and PMSM motors.
Built on low-loss IGBT technology with a typical VCE(sat) of 2.4V, it operates efficiently at a recommended 5kHz switching frequency, balancing power loss and EMI performance. The module features a single-grounded power supply via an integrated HVIC, eliminating the need for negative bias and simplifying system design, while three separate negative DC-link terminals enable precise three-phase inverter leg current sensing. Housed in a 60×31mm SPM32-AA DIP package with an Al₂O₃ DBC substrate, it offers ultra-low thermal resistance and a 2500Vrms/min isolation rating, ensuring reliable heat dissipation and electrical safety. It includes a built-in NTC thermistor for real-time temperature monitoring, under-voltage lockout (UVLO), adjustable over-current protection, and short-circuit shutdown, enhancing system robustness and fault tolerance.
