BTS3408G smart power switchdual-channel
The BTS3408G is an Infineon dual-channel low-side smart power switch belonging to the Classic HITFET 24V family, delivered in a PG-DSO-8-36 surface-mount package. As a monolithic integrated circuit built on Infineon's Smart Power Technology (SPT) that combines bipolar, CMOS, and power D-MOS devices on a single die, it drives resistive, capacitive, and inductive loads with a 4.5 V to 60 V load voltage range, 0.55 A nominal output current per channel, 480 mΩ typical on-state resistance at Tj = 25°C (1000 mΩ max at 150°C), 1 A minimum current-limit threshold, 800 mJ avalanche energy capability, and a -40°C to +150°C operating temperature range. With 2 independent N-channel D-MOS output stages, a maximum total power dissipation of 0.88 W, and AEC qualification, the BTS3408G remains a catalog-referenced building block for automotive and industrial systems that require reliable low-side switching with embedded protection, even as new designs are directed to its successor parts.
Typical application scenarios for the BTS3408G center on automotive body and powertrain electronics where inductive loads such as solenoids, valves, and stepper motors must be switched safely under harsh electrical conditions. It is widely deployed in automotive body control modules (BCM), domain controllers for ADAS and autonomous driving, electronic stability control systems, on-board chargers (OBC) for electric vehicles, diesel direct injection drivers, relay and lamp drivers, and small-load switching for 24 V/42 V automotive architectures. Beyond automotive, the device serves industrial automation, replacing mechanical relays with solid-state switching in factory equipment, driving stepper motors and transmission lines, and acting as a general-purpose low-side driver for resistive, inductive, and capacitive loads in automation panels.
Alternative low-side switch models
● BTT3050EJXUMA1: Infineon's officially recommended functional successor to the BTS3408G, offered in the same PG-DSO-8-36 package with updated HITFET technology.
● BTS3405G: Infineon dual-channel low-side smart switch in DSO-8 with 700 mΩ on-state resistance and 42 V capability, suggested by Infineon as a voltage/current-appropriate alternative for 2-channel low-side designs migrating from the BTS3408G.
● BTS3410G: Infineon HITFET family member in DSO-8 with integrated ESD, over-temperature, short-circuit, and overload protection, providing a similar protected low-side switching function for automotive and industrial loads .
● VN5E010AH: STMicroelectronics high-side smart power switch with lower on-resistance than the BTS3408G, serving as a cross-vendor alternative when a high-side configuration is acceptable and parameter verification confirms suitability.
